Wooden Hypostyle Mosques of Medieval Anatolia
A timber-column tradition represented across five provinces.
Why does it matter?
This serial property includes the mosques of Afyonkarahisar Ulu, Sivrihisar Ulu, Ankara Aslanhane, Beyşehir Eşrefoğlu and Kastamonu Mahmut Bey. Masonry exteriors and rows of interior timber columns form a shared architectural approach. Woodcarving and decoration deserve attention alongside the structural system.

Before you set off.
These are not five buildings at one location. Plan transport and visiting arrangements separately for each province. Check worship and conservation requirements, then begin with one component and spread the others across later journeys if that suits your route.
Opening, admission, restoration and access arrangements can change. Check current conditions with the site’s official operator.
Connect the discovery to a city.
These province guides are starting points for nearby sights and local flavours, rather than a boundary map or an organised tour itinerary.
